17 again movie is a hilarious teen flick about a guy named Michael O’Donnell who makes the all too common mistake of getting his girlfriend pregnant. He is forced to give up his ambitions and a football scholarship in order to marry his girlfriend and try to take care of his family. Twenty years later, he realizes his folly when his wife separates from him and his kids, Alex and Maggie refuse to talk to him. He is forced to move in with the geeky Ned Gold who is his only best friend.
All Michael wishes for is a chance to change that decision he made to give up everything in life to marry Scarlet. God isnt all that mean to him. Michaels wish is soon answered on a visit to his high school. The morning after the visit, Michael learns that he has magically transformed to himself, except that he is 17 again. Michael grabs this opportunity to be younger again and doesnt hesitate to get himself enrolled at the same high school he studied in when he was young. He doesnt take long to find out the guy that his daughter has been dating. The guy happens to be the captain of the basketball team, Stan. He obviously does not approve of Stan when he sees Stan bullying Mikes son, Alex. He makes up his mind to teach Stan a lesson.
Michael after joining the school makes friends with his daughter and supports her when she is dumped by Stan. He also teaches Alex to fight back and with his help makes it into the basketball team. He also helps him win the girl of his dreams. The story takes a turn when his wife turns up at a party and he kisses her. This scene is witnessed by his daughter Maggie who gets angry and disgusted at him. Michael then proceeds to set things right again by clearing up the confusion taking the help of his best friend Ned. Mathew Perry has done a great job at depicting the adult Michael while the younger version of him is played by Zac Efron.
Besides Zac Efron, 17 Again Movie does not have much to offer to its viewers. Obtaining a very mixed response from critics, not many people would feel the need to watch this movie at a cinema hall by burning some hard earned money.
